Waiting for Anya
World War II has engulfed Europe and by the summer of 1942 Nazi control of France has been secured. The film takes place in a small village in the south of France called Lescun.
Waiting for Anya is a story about the selfless courage of the villagers of Lescun, particularly the central characters, Madame Horcarda, Benjamin, her son-in-law, Joe, a young shepherd and his grandfather and finally his father, a returned prisoner of war. They, with the help of the villagers, assist Madame Horcarda in helping her spirit away a group of Jewish children across the border to safety in Spain under the very noses of the local German garrison.
War Horse author, Michael Morpurgo’s, Waiting for Anya is a tautly driven and exciting piece of cinema.
Waiting for Anya will commence principal photography in Lescun in Spring 2018, the producers are casting now and offers have gone out to Judi Dench for Madame Horcada, Charlie Hunnan for Benjamin, Geoffrey Rush for Joe’s grandfather and Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things) for Joe.
